Lee Ufan Museum, Lee Ufan(artist) and Tadao Ando(architect)
A museum resulting from a collaboration between the internationally acclaimed artist Lee Ufan, based mainly in Europe, and the architect Tadao Ando. Positioned in isolation in a valley surrounded by mountains and the sea, the museum forms a harmonic unity between nature, architecture, and art.

Traditional living on Naoshima
Yurt accommodation and Japanese style lodge.

Benesse Art Site Naoshima is the collective name for art activities conducted by Benesse Holdings, Inc. and Fukutake Foundation on the islands of Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima in the Seto Inland Sea. The projects were started in the late 1980's but new spaces are continously created today. The spaces are by the most prestigeous and finest architects of Japan.

The fundamental aim is to create unique spaces by situating modern art and architecture within the nature and the specific culture of the Seto Inland Sea, a landscape with a powerful cultural and historical resonance.

Inujima (犬島)
Inujima Seirensho Art Museum is a museum that preserves and reuses the remains of a copper refinery on the island. Based on the concept of using the existing to create the yet-to-be, the project brings together architecture by Hiroshi Sambuichi, which makes use of the existing smokestacks and karami bricks from the refinery and uses solar, geothermal, and other natural energies to reduce the burden on the environment
Inujima Art Project This project was developed by the art director Yuko Hasegawa and the architect Kazuyo Sejima for the village on Inujima. Three galleries, F-Art House, S-Art House, and I-Art House, designed for special displays. In 2013, with the opening of two new galleries, A-Art House and C-Art.

Teshima (豊島)
Teshima Art Museum, Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA) stands on a hill on the island of Teshima overlooking the Inland Sea. Shaped like a drop of water, the museum lies in a corner of the spacious grounds.
Structurally, the building consists of a concrete shell, devoid of pillars, coving a space 40 by 60 meters. On the highest ceiling 4.5 meters above, two oval openings allow the air, sounds, and light of the world outside. On the floor drops of water are moving in the space inside - the art of Rei Naito.

Naoshima (直島)
Benesse House, Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, Tadao Ando opened in 1992 as a facility integrating a museum with a hotel, based on the concept "Coexistence of nature, art and architecture." The facility consists of four buildings, all designed by Tadao Ando: Museum, Oval (opened in 1995), Park and Beach (both opened in 2006).

The Art House Project: an art project underway in Naoshima's Honmura district. It began in 1998 with Tatsuo Miyajima's Kadoya, and presently comprises seven houses: Kadoya, Minamidera, Kinza, Go'o Shrine, Ishibashi,Gokaisho, and Haisha.
Shifting its focus from "nature and art" to "people" and conducting its activities in a zone of daily life, the Art House Project continues its growth into a truly organic project that changes day-by-day.

Chichu Art Museum was constructed in 2004 as a site rethinking the relationship between nature and people. Artworks by Claude Monet, James Turrell, and Walter De Maria are on permanent display in a building designed by Tadao Ando.
